What's with the name, Saint Virginia?

It was inspired by a question: What if we revered the land like we revere the saints? Of course, people are God's most glorious creation, but we also were created to be good stewards of the land that God gifted us with, and so when we disconnect from nature, we disconnect from God, and true health is impossible in this scenario.

It's also about loving where we find ourselves, where we're rooted at any given season of our lives, and finding beauty there.

Saint Virginia is also an actual saint, Saint Virginia Centurione Bracelli, who cared for the poor and the sick in Genoa, Italy in the early 1600s.

Do you accept returns?

When can I expect to receive my item(s) in the mail?

All items are shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Shipping is a $7 flat rate. Please allow up to 7 business days for shipping once your order is placed.

How should I care for my items?

Organic cotton jersey scarves of all sizes and napkins may be machine washed and dried. Machine wash cold and dry low. Items can also be washed by hand and line dried, albeit out of direct sunlight for naturally dyed fibers.

Are your natural dyes colorfast and lightfast?

Yes, they have been tested for colorfastness from washing, however, some dyes (such as indigo) may fade slightly over time. This is the beautiful nature of plant dyes. Many of the natural dyes, such as black walnut or madder, will not change at all as a result of them being natural dyes but rather as a result of the fading of any dyes over time, whether synthetic or natural. The color may soften, but they will simply get lovelier with time.

Do you use any mordants in your dye process?

Yes, I use alum, which is a nontoxic pickling salt essentially. Natural dyers use various mordanting techniques to enable color to “fix” to the cloth.

I'd like a custom item. Do you do that?

Yes, I love commissions and special projects, providing my schedule allows for the care and time that goes into custom orders. Please contact me for details, samples, and pricing.

I want to send my item(s) as a gift. Can you wrap it and send a special note?

Absolutely. Please include a note with your order to specify what you’d like to say.
